Spark+ ("we", "us", or "our") is designed with your privacy as a foundational principle. We believe personal learning is private. This Privacy Policy explains how Spark+ collects, uses, and safeguards your information when you use our mobile application and backend services.
1. Information We Collect
Optional Accounts and Guest Access: You can read as a guest without providing a name, email address, password, or phone number. New supported installations store a random guest credential in the device Keychain; the server stores its hash to authenticate access to that guest's records. Existing installations may retain their original anonymous device identifier and separate history.
Sign in with Apple: If you choose Apple sign-in, we receive an Apple account identifier and authorization tokens to verify your identity and maintain your Spark+ account. This sign-in does not request your name or email address. Refresh tokens are encrypted on our server; our own session credentials are stored in the device Keychain and represented by hashes on the server. We exchange authorization and revocation requests with Apple.
Reading-link measurement: Links shared by Sparksine may include a temporary signed source ticket to count visits, opening the free chapter, and creating a new email account during the same page session (up to one hour). The ticket stays in page memory and is removed from the visible URL; it is not stored in an analytics cookie or local storage. Event records contain the campaign, book, event type and time, without your email, IP address, account identifier or notes. Requests indicating Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control are excluded. Existing-account sign-ins are not counted as new registrations.
Learning Progress & Saved Notes: Reading progress, recall results, saved quotes, and My Knowledge notes are linked to the guest or account that created them. A verified guest can explicitly choose to copy its records into the signed-in account. This copy preserves the original guest records. Original device-identifier history is not automatically claimed or merged with an Apple account.
Purchase and Access Information: In-App Purchases and Subscriptions are processed directly by Apple through StoreKit and App Store Connect. We never have access to your credit card numbers or billing address. If complimentary test access is granted to an account, we store that access status on our server without creating a payment record.
2. How We Use Information
We use the minimal data collected strictly to:
- Deliver daily book summaries, chapter audio, and recall questions.
- Calculate your daily learning streak, completion stats, and learning calendar.
- Provide AI-assisted synthesis and search across notes you explicitly choose to save in My Knowledge.
3. Artificial Intelligence & Third-Party Processing
My Knowledge uses OpenAI to summarize content and answer questions only after you explicitly allow AI processing in the app. Processing can include the text, links, questions, and relevant notes needed for the requested result. Your Apple sign-in credentials are not sent to OpenAI. You can withdraw AI permission in Account settings; this stops future processing requests.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
You have full control over your data at all times. Within the Spark+ iOS app, you can delete any saved note or knowledge item individually, or go to Profile → Account → Reset All Learning Data to instantly wipe all progress, streaks, and saved content associated with your device.
Apple account holders can choose Delete Account in Account settings and confirm with the same Apple account. This revokes Apple authorization and deletes that Spark+ account's notes, progress, saved ideas, and sessions. Separate guest records are preserved and can be reset separately. Deleting an account does not cancel an App Store subscription; manage or cancel subscriptions through Apple. Sign-in challenges expire after ten minutes and account sessions expire after thirty days; minimal security records are retained to prevent replay and unauthorized access.
